Lavender Heart Bag From Cath Kidston Pattern

I finally made something else from my Cath Kidston Sew! book, a Lavender filled Heart. The heart was quite large but luckily just the right size for all the lavender I had dried from the garden. My kitchen smells lovely now! The pattern used the sewing machine but as I wanted to watch tv I sat and hand sewed it instead. The fabric is a beautiful floral print I've had for a while now and it's nice to use it up.

My Handmade Egg Cosies

Well I've been busy making some more egg cosies which are for sale here in my shop. I've used some lovely pieces of fabric that I've had for a while. Two floral and two kitcsh prints., which are fun and functional.

This week I'm hoping to start a new project from my Cath Kidston Sew! book. I really need to get to the shops and buy some new fabric though especially for the felt ball I mentioned before.

Baby Felt Ball Toy Pattern Link

I've been thinking of making a soft ball for my baby to play with for some weeks now. I came across a free pattern to make the charming felt ball pictured above. The pattern is very clearly explained with step by step photographs. If you would like to see more of their free patterns you can visit the Wee Folk Art Website by Clicking Here. I'm going to have a bash at this so I'll post my results when I have something to show.

Handmade Sheep Egg Cosy

I made this egg cosy last week, inspired because my friend Yuca loves sheep! I've cut out some more fabric to sew tonight so will hopefully have some pictures to put up tomorrow.

Paper Weaving - Gardening Magazine Handbag

Here's a bag I made last year from old gardening magazines! I used a paper weaving machine, it was quite time intensive but very relaxing to make. I entered it into a local craft competition but didn't win any prizes, however my friend Yuca won first prize with her entry so I was really happy for her. The contest was to make something useful from something recycled.

Orange & Cloves Christmas Pomander

Here's some Pomanders that I made as Chrismas Gifts. I made one for myself too, the cloves were quite spread out when I put them in but now the orange has shrunk quite a lot and the cloves are tighter together. My Pomander is still giving off a nice spicy sweet smell and looks great too. I'm planning to make more next Christmas as our homemade gifts went down a treat.

My 1st Handmade Chicken Egg Cosy

Well here it is, my first attempt at an Egg cosy.

It was made using a mixture of machine and hand sewing. I made it from various coloured felts from hobbycraft and some thick curtain fabric from Ikea. The pattern I used was from my Cath Kidston Sew book.

The chicken design I did myself just by cutting out the shapes from felt and trimming them till it resembled something like a hen. The inside is all lined with felt to keep my eggs toasty warm.

I quite enjoyed making this so will be making a few more. I do like the idea of having a handmade functional item rather than just decorative like my dolls tend to be.

Cath Kidston Sew! Book

For Christmas my lovely husband bought me the Cath Kidston Sew! Book. Its a fantastic book with lots of lovely inspiring ideas and a full pattern sheet. You do need to trace the patterns out to use them but they are at least, full size. I finally got my sewing machine out last night for the first time since I had my baby and I have started the Egg Cosy Pattern. I'm hoping to finish it off tonight when the children are in bed.
